The main overhead is due to the replicas stored on multiple nodes.
So, if you have an n_val of 3 (the default) for a given bucket, then
all documents stored in that bucket will be stored in 3 separate
places. Here you are making an explicit tradeoff of space usage for
availability, and you can choose the value that works best for you.
There is also a constant overhead for each stored document due to the
riak_object record wrapping the document. Future riak releases intend
to dramatically reduce or eliminate this record.
